A teenage boy today drowned in a stream in Kupwara district, while a decomposed body was fished out from river Jhelum here, police said.
Hilal Ahamd Najar (16), a resident of Drugmulla village, drowned in Pohroo stream while taking bath, a police spokesman said.
He said the body of deceased was retrieved from the 'nallah' and handed over to his relatives for last rites.
A decomposed body identified as that of Mohammad Ashraf Bhat of Khanyar was recovered from river Jhelum near old Zainakadal in downtown Srinagar last night, the spokesman said.
Police has initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the cause of Bhat's death, he said adding his body was handed over to his relatives for the last rites.
