Teenager killed in bear attack

A 19-year-old boy was killed when a bear attacked him near Kothaballuguda village in Araku valley in the agency area of the district today, police said.

The incident took place when K Vijay Kumar, a native of Pedaballuguda had gone to a nearby forest this morning to collect some leaves of specific trees, used for making plates.

"When Vijay Kumar was returning from the forest, a bear suddenly attacked him. He was severely injured in the incident and was found by the local residents. The boy died on the way to the hospital," police said.

Araku Valley police, led by Sub-Inspector B Ramakrishna visited the spot and registered a case under section 174 of CrPC for further investigation.
 

The body was shifted to the government hospital for post mortem.
