Heavy showers drenched most parts Punjab and Haryna today leading to a drop in temperature in the region, while water level in major rivers in Uttar Pradesh started to decline giving respite to people in flood-hit areas.
Meanwhile, the national capital experienced a hot and humid day today as maximum temperature remained marginally above the normal level.
The maximum temperature was recorded a degree above the normal at 35.2 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 25.3 deg C, Meteorological department said.

In UP, the Ganga river, which had been in spate, was now static at Bulandshahr, Kanpur and Rae Bareli. The river is receding at Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Allahabad, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Ballia and Gazipur, Met officials said.
However, it is still flowing above the red mark in Ballia district of the state.
Widespread rainfall in parts of Punjab and Haryana plunged maximum temperatures. The mercury plummeted by upto two notches below normal at several places in the region.
While Chandigarh was drenched by 37.2 mm rains, Ambala got 3.2 mm rains. Amritsar received 1.8 mm rainfall.
Narnaul was the hottest place in the region with a high of 36.5 deg C.
