Maximum temperatures hovered a few notches above normal across Punjab and Haryana today with high humidity levels adding to the discomfort of the people.
According to weather officials here, the Union Territory of Chandigarh recorded a high of 36 degrees Celsius, which was three notches above normal.
Hisar in Haryana was the hottest place in the region with the maximum touching 38.8 degrees, again three above normal.

Ambala saw the maximum settle at 36.3 degrees while Narnaul recorded a high of 35.5 degrees.
In Punjab, Amritsar and Patiala recorded identical, above normal maximums of 37 degrees.
The mercury in Ludhiana was at 36 degrees, one notch above normal, despite 28mm of rainfall in the industrial city.
The forecast is for light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers at a few places in Haryana and Punjab in the coming two days, the weather office said.
