Three girls drowned
Three minor girls drowned today
in a pond at Phuldobhia in Bihar's Katihar district.
On seeing 12 year-old Poonam Kumari drowning in a pond, her sister Kajo (10) and another girl Sabita Kumari (14) came to her rescue, but all three of them drowned, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Subhash Narayan said.
Narayan said that the kin of the three deceased girls would be given an ex-gratia assistance of Rs four lakh each under disaster management guidelines.
