Three women estate workers were killed and another injured when a tree uprooted due to strong winds and fell on them at Kunjithanni near Adimali here today.
The tree collapsed on Panchiyamma, Pushpa and Mercy after it was uprooted in strong winds at Nellikad Johnson cardamom estate, police said.
Another person was seriously injured in the incident, they added.
According to the Indian Metereological Department, Regional office, Thiruvananthapuram, strong winds from westerly direction with speed occasionally reaching 45-55 kmph are likely to hit along and off Kerala coast and over Lakshadweep area in the next 24 hours, commencing from 2 PM today.
