The ruling Trinamool Congress today accused West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi of bypassing the state government and said that the Governor cannot act unilaterally.

TMC chief national spokesperson Derek O'Brien alleged that the governor has written a letter to divisional commissioner of Malda directing him to convene a meeting regarding law and order in the bordering district and development schemes of state and central governments.

He said the Tripathi cannot act unilaterally and he should follow the rules and regulations laid down in the Constitution.

The governor declined to say anything on the charge levelled by the TMC.

"I am not here to answer these questions. I have come here to enjoy books", the Governor told newsmen at the Kolkata International Book Fair when asked about the allegation.

Tripathi visited book fair to release a science magazine.

TMC also tried to raise the issue in the Upper House today.
