Six CPI(M) workers were arrested on the eve of second phase of panchayat polls today when a clash broke out between Trinamool Congress and Left workers at Andal in West Bengal's Burdwan district, leaving one TMC activist injured.
The second phase of the panchayat polls is scheduled for tomorrow in East Midnapore, Hooghly and Burdwan districts.
Ratan Chakraborty, who received stab wounds on his throat, was taken to Hospital and his condition was stated to be serious, police said.

Six CPI(M) activists, including party's Ajay-Damodar Zonal Committee member Malay Basu, party's Madanpur gram panchayat candidate Bablu Mondal were arrested in connection with the attack, they said.
The accused were remanded to eight days' police custody by a Durgapur court this afternoon.
The clash broke out over some argument between CPI(M) and TMC activists on campaigning issue, police said.
