TMC MP slams SEC Mira Pandey

Trinamool Congress today kept up the attack on State Election Commissioner Mira Pandey with party MP Kalyan Bandopadhyay saying that the government official appeared to be serving the cause of the opposition.

"Don't we understand whose brief she is holding? If she has the power, let her make CPI(M) and Congress victorious (in the panchayat elections).

"We will show our strength in the panchayat polls. She wants to stall the election," Bandopadhay told a panchayat poll meeting here in Burdwan district.

"I don't know whether in future she will be a candidate of the CPI(M)," he added.

In an obvious reference to SEC's insistence on the deployment of central forces for the rural polls, Bandopadhay said: "She can't live without CRPF. She wants CRPF on the right, left, front and back. She has fallen in love with CRPF.
