Tamil Nadu government today announced that it would procure medical equipment worth Rs 2.34 crore to enhance health care amenities in jails in the state.
A range of 13 types of medical equipment, including ventilators, oxygen flowmeters, and multi-channel monitors would be provided to 13 hospitals and 30 ambulances attached to nine Central Prisons, three Special Prison for Women, a borstal school and district jail, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said in the assembly.
The equipment would be procured at a cost of Rs 2.34 crore and sent to such correctional institutions.
During the current year, for field personnel of the prison department 100 residential quarters will be built at a cost of Rs 14.57 crore, she said.
