Turkish-born Australian footballer Tolgay Ozbey wishes the typical Awadhi delicacies tickle the tastebuds of pizza-ham generation down under.
Tolgay, one of the highest scorers in Indian football and highest paid footballers in past few years, told PTI, "From Kakori Kebab, Tunde Kebab to Pukki Gosht ki Biriyani to Hyderabadi Biriyani, the circle has been completed with my arrival in India. The tanginess of your continental dishes seamlessly blend with the stuffed minced meat in pizza and burger which is lighter in preparation."
Tolgay, who inauguarated the 'Feast of Nawabs' at Square 405, said though India was much more than Maharajas and elephants, the country has a rich Royal culinary tradition going down by centuries which are a sure hit among people of west.
Talking about Bengali's passion for food, Tolgay affirmed the "The Average Bong is equally passionate about Football. I couldnot know how crazy people in this part are, about the derby match as well as world football. I guess Bengalis are passionate about anything which tugs their heart."
Tolgay's friend, international model Serap Mutloui said, "Tolgay is a great lover of continental food as well as me. We also love the authentic Japanese, Spanish, and Thai restaurants frequenting the Lansdown Road which is your food hub and I guess Kolkata is the food capital of the world. One part of Kolkata will always be with us even if we ever go anywhere."
Rather than tinsel celebs, who frequent our place, "we decided to rope in an icon like Tolgay, a fitness freak and an international footballer, and his friend to showcase our centuries old Awadhi cuisine to the outside world. We would love to have him in our future sporting initiatives as well," a Square 405 spokesman said.
