Tributes paid to Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on birth anniversary

Rich tributes were paid to late Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on his 66th birth anniversary by YSR Congress leaders and activists across the state today.

Reddy's wife and YSR Congress honorary president Y S Vijayamma, party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and other family members paid their homage to the departed leader at YSR Samadhi located in the family estate at Idupulapaya in native Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh.

Several party leaders including, YSRCP Telangana president P Srinivas Reddy, YSRCP MP Mekapati Rajmohan Reddy, Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, Bota Satyanaryana, participated in the event organised at the party's central office here.
 

Lauding the services of Rajasekhara Reddy, the leaders said his ideology and vision are relevant even today.

"YS Rajasekhar Reddy infused confidence in the weaker sections by launching a slew of welfare measures. He understood the suffering of the poor during his historic 'padayatra' in 2003 which has changed the course of the state's polity and ushered in an era of welfare," the leaders said.

The birth anniversary was celebrated in AP and Telangana, besides countries like United States, YSRCP said in a release.
