Two persons have been arrested in connection with the assault of officials of the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) by a Malda district Trinamool Youth Congress leader.
Police said the duo were arrested last night after the WBSEDCL divisional manager of Malda Saibal Mazumdar filed a complaint of assault of officials yesterday by Trinamool Youth Congress leader Biswajit Ray alias "Bullet".
Yesterday, Ray was suspended from the party for six years after he allegedly assaulted WBSEDCL officials in protest against excessive electricity bills.
Ray is absconding and police is in search of him.
