Union minister Ramdas Athawale's mother passes away

Union minister Ramdas Athawale's mother today passed away at a hospital here, an official said.

Housabai Bandu Athawale, 88, was admitted to the Guru Nanak Hospital in suburban Bandra sometime back for a health treatment, he said.

"She breathed her last at 7 am today in the hospital," Ramdas Athawale's public relations officer Mayur Borkar said.

The funeral is expected to be held around 3 pm at the Kherwadi crematorium in Bandra, Borkar said.

Ramdas Athawale, whose Republican Party of India (Athawale) is a constituent of the BJP-led NDA, is the minister of state for social justice at the Centre.
