Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said his government has equipped the people of the state with required "law arsenal" to wage war against corruption and "nip the evil in the bud".
Listing out agencies of inquiry, like Accountability Commission (AC), Vigilance Commission (VC) and other laws and programmes constituted by his government, Omar said they had "empowered people legally to scan the government functionaries from Chief Minister to the lowest ranking official".
Any citizen can bring any functionary of the government under full public scan, he said interacting with the public and party workers at Tral in Pulwama district.
Omar said his government not only constituted independent institutions to keep vigil but gave teeth to defunct ones so that people are empowered to bring the corrupt to the book and transparency is brought in the functioning of the government.
Claiming that these works "cannot be eclipsed by false propaganda", he said agitations have been held, including by Anna Hazare, for laws like these at the national level.
"It is now up to the people to be pro-active to use the law-arsenal to unearth corrupt practices and be masters of the situation by themselves," he said.
Slamming PDP for making Jammu and Kashmir No.2 corrupt state in the country, he said had this party continued to control the affairs of government, it would have made Jammu and Kashmir No.1 corrupt state in the world.
The false propaganda and mud-slinging for petty politics itself describes the persons who indulge in this kind of politics, he said.
Reiterating his party's firm belief in truthfulness and principle-based politics, Omar urged youth and elders to support to him to galvanise the political scenario.
