The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) president Rajiv Shukla today announced that all the former first-class cricketers from the states will be rewarded with an ex-gratia payment ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh in the coming days.

The decision was taken at the AGM of the state cricket association held here today.

As per BCCI constitution, a first-class cricketer is entitled to a monthly pension if he has played 25 first-class matches but UPCA would reward anyone who has played between one and 24 Ranji matches for the state.

"This is our way to encourage the cricketers from the state. Those who have played between one to five Ranji matches for UP will be paid Rs 50,000 while those who have played between 6 to 14 matches will get a one-time payment of Rs 75,000. Those between 15 and 24 matches will get a payment of Rs 1 lakh. Our priority will be to first reward those ex-players who are aged above 50 years," Shukla informed the reporters after the meeting.

The BCCI vice-president also informed that the members of the junior and senior selection committees of the state will now get remuneration for their job. This has been done to increase the accountability.
