Cardamom prices were trading higher by 0.70 per cent to Rs 1,356.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in January went up by Rs 9.40, or 0.70 per cent to Rs 1,356.50 per kg in a business turnover of 62 lots.

Similarly, spice for delivery in February was also trading higher by Rs 9.70, or 0.70 per cent, to Rs 1,391 per kg in 7 lots.

Traders said fresh positions created by participants amid pick-up in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
