Vacancies in LWE areas not diverted

The vacancies are carried over to be incorporated with next year's vacancies, Raghupathy said.

However, information on vacancies, recruitment and reservation have not been disseminated adequately to candidates of those areas, which he described as a "collective failure of SSC and the media." Due to the lack of information

many vacancies reserved for candidates of those areas remain vacant.

In West Bengal, the LWE areas are West Midnapore, Bankura, Purulia and Birbhum districts.

He said there had been an overwhelming response to SSC's recruitment advertisements and there was approximately 15 per cent increase in the number of candidates.

Last year SSC offered jobs to 84,500 unemployed youths and this year till date it has already done so to 63,000 youths.

 

The SSC chairman said about 2,000 posts in comparable vacancies like junior engineer, transmission executives in Prasar Bharati and cabinet secretariat will be filled up through SSC from this year.

He said this year for the second term SSC is undertaking recruitment measures for Food Corporation of India.
