Venison, deer horns recovered

A forest department team today recovered meat and horns of an adult male deer from a village in Palamau district.

The team raided Chorhat village under Chaipur Forest Range and recovered the items when members of a family was having venison, said Divisional Forest Officer of Medininagar Forest Division, Mhalinga.

The family of Dhari Singh and his brother Prabhu Singh allegedly killed the deer in the wee hours, he said adding the accused family had venison in their food and kept some portion of the raw meat aside for sale.

"We have recovered that raw meat as well as horns of the deer," Mhalinga said.
 

He said the Singh brothers managed to flee.

A case has been registered against the two under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
