Vice President Naidu pays tributes to Buddhist monk Pragyanand

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today paid floral tributes to Buddhist monk Bhadant Pragyanand, who passed away recently, an official statement issued by the Uttar Pradesh Raj Bhavan said here today.

UP Governor Ram Naik and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today accorded a warm welcome to Vice-President Naidu at the Chaudhary Charan Singh airport here.

"Vice-President paid floral tributes to Buddhist monk Bhadant Pragyanand at Buddh Vihar located in Risaldar Park," the statement said. UP Governor Naik also accompanied Naidu.

Pragyanand, youngest among the seven monks who had initiated 'Babasaheb' Bhim Rao Ambedkar into Buddhism in 1956, died at Lucknow's King George's Medical University.
 

The vice-president will be the chief guest at tomorrow's convocation ceremony at the Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, the statement said.
