Village head killed in UP

Head of Sarai Anchal village in Lambhua area here was brutally killed by unidentified persons here, police said today.

Village head Ghanshyam Yadav, 37, was attacked by two motorcycle-borne youths with sharp-edged weapons when he was returning home yesterday, they said.

Yadav was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Agitated local SP leaders created traffic jam on Sultanpur-Lucknow highway, demanding immediate arrest of the assailants.

Police is suspecting old enmity behind the killing.

Adequate police force has been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.

Earlier this month, a village head was shot dead by unidentified persons in Balipur village, about 70 kms from here over a land dispute.
 

The matter escalated when DSP Zia-ul-Haq was killed by a mob on March 2 when he had rushed to the village, with the slain officer's wife alleging controversial Uttar Pradesh politician Raja Bhaiya's hand in the attack.
