Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today expressed hope the Governor would give his assent to a bill providing compulsory registration and regulation of sports bodies in the state, and asserted that if it was returned, a special Assembly session would be convened to pass it again.

Talking to PTI at Bhodda village in Palampur of Kangra district, Singh claimed that some from the opposition BJP were trying to influence newly-appointed Governor Acharya Devvrat over the bill. There was, however, no interference in the working of the state government, he said.

The Assembly had in April passed the Himachal Pradesh Sports (Registration, Recognition and Regulation of Associations) Bill, 2015.

The Chief Minister said the sports bill had been withheld and in case it is returned without assent, it would be passed again and sent to the Governor for his assent.

Singh, who is on a three-day tour of Kangra district, started his visit by inaugurating the Rs 5.08-crore building of newly started ITI at Garh village, about 25 km from here.

The Chief Minister said more job oriented vocational courses will be started in the ITI from next year. He said it was the endeavour of his government to set up vocational institutions so that rural youths get proper training for earning their livelihood.
