With a quantum jump of over 60,000 cusecs in the inflow, water level in the Stanley reservoir in Mettur crossed 100 feet mark today against its full level of 120 feet, PWD officials said.

With surplus water from Kabini and Krishnaraja Sagar dams in Karnataka being released into Cauvery river, water level in the dam has increased by three feet from 97.17 feet in the morning.

The storage in the dam was 65.84 tmc today against its capacity of 93.4 tmc, they said.

The Chief Minister has announced in the assembly yesterday that water would be released from Mettur dam from August 15 for cultivation of samba crops.

The dam and its nearby areas are experiencing heavy rains for the past few hours.
