The West Bengal Film Journalists Association will host "Cinema Convocation" where awards would be presented to the best in Bengali cinema under various categories.
The convocation will honour best in film, direction, script writing, actor (male-female), character actor, music, lyrics, cinematography, sound designing for 2016, veteran film critic and one of WBFJA founder-members Nirmal Dhar said at a press meet this evening.
"This is the first cinema convocation in the region to be attended by a host of personalities from the film world on January 8," Dhar said.
Actor-MP Dev, actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, directors Srijit Mukherjee, Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay, Kamaleswar Mukherjee and others have said that the initiative by the film journalists would give boost to the Bengali showbiz industry.
Dev was present at the press meet.
