The BSF today seized a cache of weapons in Sriganganagar district, 27 km away from the international border between India and Pakistan.

The person carrying the weapons, however, managed to escape.

According to a BSF official, an operation was launched based on inputs from sources regarding delivery of arms consignment by one Joginder Singh at a bus stand.

A team lay in wait at the spot. As he passed by the bus stand towards Sri Ganganagar, we chased him and also informed the police. But taking advantage of the traffic, he dropped the bag carrying the weapons and managed to escape, the official said.

On checking the bag, the officials found 4 pistols (two .315 bore and two .312 bore).

A joint manhunt has been launched for Joginder Singh, the official said.
