Wheat declines on adequate supply; barley remains up

Wheat prices softened by Rs 5 per quintal at the wholesale market today on adequate stocks amid increased supplies against reduced offtake by flour mills.

However, barley strengthened on increased offtake.

Traders said besides adequate stocks position, reduced offtake by flour mills mainly weighed on wheat prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) declined by Rs 5 to Rs 1,565-1,570 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by Rs 10 to Rs 1,570-1,575 per 90 kg.

Sooji also eased to Rs 970-990 against last close of Rs 980-1,000 per 50 kg on subdued demand.

On the other hand, barley advanced by Rs 15 to Rs 1,430-1,435 per quintal.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 9,000-9,800, Rice Pusa- (1121) new 7,300-10,000, Permal raw 2,100-2,150, Permal wand 2,200-2,300, Sela 2,700-2,800 and Rice IR-8-1,900-1,950, Bajra 1,210-1,215, Jowar yellow 1,400-1,420, white 2,325-2,525, Maize 1,215-1,225, Barley 1,430-1,435.
