Wheat prices were up 0.68 per cent to Rs 1,785 per quintal in futures market today as speculators built up fresh positions amid pick up in demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in March moved up by Rs 12, or 0.68 per cent, to Rs 1,785 per quintal with an open interest of 6,870 lots.
Similarly, the wheat for delivery in April contracts was also trading higher by Rs 7, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 1,750 per quintal in 330 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by participants due to upsurge in demand from flour mills in the physical market amid a pause in arrivals led to rise in wheat prices in futures trade.
