A wild bear which had come out from Manas National Park in lower Assam's Barpeta district was beaten to death by people after it seriously injured four persons at Bilasipara area today.
The bear came out from Bahbari range of Manas National Park and attacked the people in the crop field when they tried to chase away the animal, police said.
The injured were admitted to Barpeta Road mini public health centre, from where two of them were taken to Barpeta Medical College Hospital after their condition deteriorated.
The people of the locality beat the bear to death, they said.
