Wild elephant injures one, damages houses

One person was injured and several houses were damaged by an wild elephant at Gohpur in Sonitpur district today, forest officials said.

The tusker injured Lilamaya Pradhan of Dathkola village and destroyed eight houses this morning.

Pradhan was taken to the Gohpur hospital in a critical condition.

Forest personnel went to the spot but failed to chase away the elephant that has taken shelter in the village.
