A woman today allegedly struck at her 10-year-old son with a sharp weapon after he asked her for food when there was no money in their house to buy the same, police said.
According to police sources, in the incident which was reported in the district's Khatakhedi area, one Shaheen hit her son on the head when he kept asking her for food.
The boy has been admitted to a hospital in the district for treatment while his mother has been arrested, police said.
Police said that the woman, married to one Furkan, told them that her husband would not pay for their domestic expenses and thus she had been without money with which to buy food.
