A 30-year-old woman and her two-year-old son died after they came under a moving train in northeast Delhi's Gandhi Nagar area today.

The deceased were identified as Sama and her son Aman. The incident was reported around 2 am when the woman and her three children were trying to cross the tracks.

Sama's daughter Alisha (7) and son Anas (5) survived, said a police officer, adding that they have not ruled out the possibility of the case being a suicide.

Sama lived with her husband, Abdul Hassan, and three children at Shastri Park area. They were natives of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh. Sama's relatives told the police that Hasan is a roadside vendor and did not have a decent income, for which the couple often had heated arguments, said the officer.

Yesterday, Hasan returned home around 11 PM and had an argument with Sama, after which she left home with her three children. After around three hours, Hasan got to know through locals that his wife and youngest son was found dead near the railway tracks, while the other two children were alive, said the officer.

Sama and her children were rushed to GTB Hospital, where she and Aman were declared brought dead and the other two children were admitted with serious injuries, the officer added.

Yesterday, a woman and her eight-year-old daughter died when they came under the wheels of a moving train while trying to board it near Delhi Cantonment railway station.

The woman's younger daughter who is five-year-old also came under the train but survived. However, her severely damaged arm had to be amputated, a police officer said.
