Woman kills self in UP

A woman, whose husband committed suicide four days ago, allegedly killed herself by hanging from a ceiling fan in Begamabad area of Modinagar here, police said today.

The deceased, Lovely hanged herself last night from a ceiling fan at her marital house, Station House Officer of Modinagar police station, Deepak Sharma said.

She got married to a neighbour Gaurav about six months ago against the wishes of their parents. But both the families managed to resolve the issue, the SHO said.

However, Gaurav took the extreme step on July 25 by consuming some poisonous substance, he added.

Meanwhile, on the request of both the families, the body was handed over to them for last rites without conducting postmortem, the SHO said, adding that no FIR has been registered in the matter.
