Woman set ablaze in Madurai, dies

A 37-year-old woman, who was set ablaze by two motorcycle-borne assailants, died in the wee hours today at a government hospital here, police said.

The assailants poured petrol on the woman and set her on fire yesterday afternoon while she was returning after appearing in a court in connection with the divorce petition she had filed, they said.

She was admitted to the government hospital with serious burn injuries and breathed her last around 1 AM today, they added.

Police said they were questioning her estranged husband Mohanraj in connection with the case.
