A woman and her six-month-old baby were today crushed to death while one other was injured when their car collided head-on with another vehicle on Pathankot- Jogindernagar National Highway, 4 Km from here, police said.
Reena Sharma (28) and her daughter Mannat were sitting in front seat of the car, while three other women along with their kids were seating in the back seat.
Another car, coming from the opposite direction, rammed into it on Banuri road near here killing the mother-daughter duo on the spot, police said, adding that driver of car Om Prakash was seriously injured.
All the other women and children travelling with the deceased escaped unhurt.
The occupants of the car were on their way from Baijnath to Palampur, police said.
The accident reportedly occurred due to rash driving by the driver of the other car, whose driver fled from the spot after the incident, but later surrendered before the police, they said.
The bodies were handed over to family members after post mortem and a case has been registered.
