A young woman was washed away in a stream following a surge in water level in Neogal Khud near Jajjar, 15-km from here, today.
Two other women Prilanka and Joginder, accompanying 30-year-old Reena who drowned, were rescued as they managed to mount a rock when the water level suddenly went up, police said.
The women were going to the forests for cutting grass and the water level rose when they were mid-stream, they added.
Joginder shouted for help after which villagers reached the spot and rescued them her and Prilanka.
The body of Reena was recovered from Panwar, 4-Km downstream the spot of the accident, police said adding her body was handed over to the family members after postmortem.
