Yavatmal-based youth's short film wins Filmfare award

"Matitali Kusti", a short film made by a city-based youth, has won the Filmfare Award in non-fiction category.
This Marathi short film, made by 24-year-old Prantik Deshmukh, showcases the struggle of the modern day traditional wrestlers and their battle against the freestyle wrestling of the modern times in their struggle for keeping this ancient martial art form alive.
The announcement about the film winning the award was made at a press conference in Mumbai yesterday, a release issued here said.

The awards ceremony would be held in Mumbai on January 15, it added.
Prantik, a post-graduate degree holder in Mass Communication from the Savitribai Phule Pune University, directed the short film, which was produced by his department.
The film was shot at Chinchechi talim in Pune, one of the oldest talims (wrestling training centers) in Maharashtra.
The duration of the film is 12 minutes.
