A young housewife killed her infant daughter before committing suicide at her residence in Navin Subedar layout in the South-Eastern part of the city today, the police said.
One Jyotsana Banbir Gondane (27) hanged herself to death after killing her one-and-half-year-old daughter Ishika by drownig her in a water tank, a city police release said.
The incident came to light at 8 am today when her husband was out of the city.
A suicide note was found, in which she has blamed her brother-in-law (husband's younger brother) and his wife for torturing her.
The Sakkardara police has registered a case of infantacide and other offences and is investigating the case, the release said.
