Yousuf's case: Commission summons two witnesses

Press Trust of India Srinagar

Justice Bedi directed Abdul Salam Reshi and Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, both National Conference workers, to present themselves for cross-examination by the counsel of Yousuf' family on June three.

Reshi and Bhat had accused Yousuf of taking huge amount of money for getting them berths in the Legislative Council and Council of Ministers.

The Commission also summoned four police personnel to depose before it as witnesses on the next date of hearing.

Yousuf died in police custody on September 30 last year.

Post-mortem report and a magisterial inquiry have ruled out any foul play in Yousuf's death as both have concluded that he died of a heart attack.

The state government appointed Justice Bedi, a retired Supreme Court judge, to probe the matter.
