Youth beaten to death in west Delhi

A 21-year-old youth was beaten to death while trying to intervene in a fight between his friend and a group of youngsters in Uttam Nagar area of west Delhi, police said today.

Sushant had gone to help his friend Sunil Chaudhary, who had picked up a fight with a group of youths at Shiv Vihar in Uttam Nagar area around 7.30 PM yesterday, when he was brutally thrashed to death by the group, police said.

Chaudhary had an argument with the group over a petty issue which turned violent. He called Sushant for help who reached there alongwith his cousin Rahul, a police officer said.
 

As he tried to intervene, the enraged group attacked him with sticks, cricket bat and iron rods, the officer said.

Rahul also sustained injuries in the attack.

Later Chaudhary called police who rushed the injured to the DDU hospital where Sushant was declared brought dead by the doctors, he said.

Sushant lived with his mother and a younger brother in Ranhola village. His father had died in an accident five years ago.

A case has been registered at Uttam Nagar police station and about six youths have been nabbed in connection with the murder.
