Nifty hits record high at 7,700; Infosys surges

REUTERS - The Nifty hit a record high at 7,700 on Wednesday, while the Sensex also touched an all-time high at 25,735.87. The indices are trading down 0.4 percent each in afternoon trade.

Infosys Ltd gains 4.4 percent on value buying. The BSE IT index is up 2.4 percent.

Wipro Ltd is up 0.8 percent, while Tata Consultancy Services Ltd gains 1.6 percent.

Among drugmakers, Cipla Ltd gains 1.6 percent, while Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd is up 0.8 percent.

However, shares of L&T Finance Holdings Ltd were trading 4.5 percent lower after the company set a floor price at a discount of 9.7 percent to its Tuesday's close.
