Continuing with its efforts to question Arvind Jayaswal and Manoj Jayaswal of AMR Iron and Steel Pvt Limited in the last two days, the
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is likely to submit a detailed report on investigation in coal block allocation scam to Central
Vigilance Commission (CVC) by September end.

Senior officials of the CBI are already giving regular updates of the progress in the cases to CVC but this is the first time that a detailed
report will be sent to CVC.

CBI had started investigation in the coal scam in 2011 after BJP Member of Parliament (MP) Hansraj Ahir wrote a letter to Comptroller and
Auditor General (CAG) in November 2010 asking the constitutional authority to look into the allocation of coal blocks, CAG had forwarded
the letter to CVC and a preliminary enquiry was initiated by the agency. CBI had registered five cases on September 4 and initiated the
process of calling Directors of the companies for questioning.

“CBI has not yet submitted its report that it was expected to give to CVC but the agency has asked for some time. A meeting is scheduled
later this month then we will come to know about it. CBI comes to CVC for a meeting every month,” said JM Garg, Vigilance Commissioner.

Even though CBI is under attack from several political parties, including Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), of working under political
pressure, CVC has come in the open to defend the agency. Senior leaders of the BJP have said that although CBI has an impressive team of
officers to investigate cases, the agency always works under political pressure.

“The investigation is transparent. CBI is probing the matter independently. We have not received any evidence so far of this kind
pressure. Whatever allegations are being made against on CBI, it is sort of political,” Garg added.
