Cbi To Move Sc Against Ruling In Hawala Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will move the Supreme Court challenging Delhi High Courts verdict quashing charges against some prominent political leaders in the Jain hawala case, CBI director Joginder Singh said here yesterday.
Singh told newsmen here that a special leave petition would be filed in the apex court against the High Courts ruling. Singh did not dwell at length over the issue saying the matter was sub-judice.
On April 7, the Delhi High Court had quashed charges against Bharatiya Janata Party president L K Advani and former Union minister V C Shukla in the case saying entries in the Jain diaries were not admissible as legal evidence.
Following the High Court verdict, the designated trial court dropped charges against BJP leader Madan Lal Khurana and Congress leaders Arjun Singh, Madhavrao Scindia, N D Tiwari and R K Dhawan in the case.
