Essar Seeks To Pay Telecom Fee Quarterly

According to guidelines of the tender prescribing norms for private entry into basic telecom services, companies are required to pay their yearly licence fee tranches upfront.

Other basic telecom companies are also likely to make similar requests for quarterly instalments, sources said.

Essar Commvision is learnt to have made this request at a meeting some weeks back between the Essar group chairman Shashi Ruia and former communications secretary M P Modi.

DoT has not yet taken a decision on whether to accede to the request.
