Governing Rules

Akhil Arora BSCAL

A lot is being said about corporate governance these days. I too have a few suggestions.

Companies should regularly service the money put in by investors.

With increasing computerisation, annual accounts must be finalised within two months i.e by May 31. Dividends, if any, must be paid not later than August 31.

Companies in BSEs A and B-1 group must publish quarterly results.

With the increasing number of bank issues hitting the market, it is imperative that issue of bonus shares is provided for through enabling provisions; co-op societies of bank employees must be banned as they compete with the employer in soliciting deposits.

Intermediaries, which knowingly abet fly-by-night operators to tap capital markets, must be disqualified from further handling issues.
