HAFED has also signed a joint venture agreement with NAFED to make its commercial operations more effective. The joint venture with NAFED, according to the state food minister, is on a 50:50 basis.
HAFED purchases raw cotton and sells it after ginning. Part of the cotton purchases are made for consumption by HAFED spinning mill at Hansi and the balance is either sold or exported.
