Ibm To Supply 30,000 Pcs To Skumars.Com

IBM India will supply 30,000 high-end multimedia personal computers (PCs) enabled for Tivoli's systems management solutions to Skumars.com for installation in their e-business kiosks across the country.

The value of the order is being placed in excess of Rs 100 crore. However, whether the entire order will be exercised depends on the number of franchisees Skumars.com will be able to sign on. Skumars.com managing director R N Bhaskar said the company was currently processing 52,000 franchisee applications from over 1,600 cities.

The company is in fact confident that it will need more than 30,000 PCs judging by the rush for a Skumars.com franchise. The first phase of 30,000 franchisee kiosks are expected to be ready by September. The IBM PCs will be developed to suit the specific requirements of the Skumars.com project.

 

A joint statement said they would be configured around the latest range of processors and will include high capacity RAM and hard disk architectures to enable Skumars.com franchisees deploy them for high-end computing and Internet applications.
