Late Decline

BSCAL

Share values nose-dived yesterday at the Delhi Stock Exchange (DSE) due to offloading by domestic as well as foreign institutional investors (FII). Sources said late trading wiped out whatever gains were made in the morning session. The DSE index finally closed 7.28 down at 785.13.

Among the worst sufferer was Hindustan Lever (HLL) which shed Rs 26 and closed at 1,389. Even cement major ACC lost heavily and closed at 1,353.05, down Rs 25.45. Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) slipped Rs 7.45 to close at 252.55, ITC Ltd Rs 6.50 at 611.55, Bajaj Auto Rs 6 at 595.25 and Telco Rs 3.25 at 291.25.

The other losers in the specified category were Apollo Tyres, Arvind Mills, Asian Hotels, DCM, Escorts, Hero Honda, Nestle India, Reliance Industries (RIL), State Bank of India (SBI) and Steel Authority of India (SAIL).

But ITC Hotels gained Rs 7.25 to close at 111.25 while Larsen and Toubro (L&T) was up Rs 3.50 at 211.55. The volume of trading was fair. UNI
