Mascot Plans Rs 70-Crore Expansion

Mascot Systems, a subsidiary of Mastech Corporation of the US, plans to invest Rs 70 crore in setting up additional software development centres in Chennai and Pune.

This will form part of its Indian expansion plans. When completed, the expansion programme is expected to increase the IT solution provider's software professional personnel to over 1300.

The company has an established IT facility in Bangalore. According to S Shekar, managing director, Mascot, the company now intends to replicate its Bangalore centre at other parts of the country to create more capacity for its global customers. The Bangalore facility which now caters to Mascot's current project requirements, plans to expand its personnel strength from 300 to 400 in next three months. "Once all the centres are fully functional, the Bangalore centre will focus on client-server competencies," he said. The Chennai facility will focus on executing large projects in the mainframe and mid-range areas, and is expected to have 650 employees.

 

Mascot intends to set up the third IT facility at Pune in the second quarter of 1998 focusing on the ASEAN market.

The company offers service including client-server and legacy design and development, conversions and migrations, Y2K solutions, application maintenance outsourcing and Internet solutions.
