The National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) in partnership with the Business Software Alliance (BSA) has helped the crime branch of the Mumbai Police to raid one of the largest pirates of illegal and counterfeit software in Mumbai.
Disclosing this Nasscoms executive director Dewang Mehta said this is the first time that raids have been conducted on dealers of counterfeit compact discs or CDs.
During the raid on `CD Shoppe in Mumbai, 43 CDs, 33 blank CDs, four computers, a CD writer and other pirated software belonging to leading software firms like Microsoft, Novell, Autodesk were seized. The total cost of the seized material is estimated to be around Rs 30 lakh.
These establishments in Mumbai were raided on behalf of the member companies of Nasscom and BSA.
