BSCAL

The fight for control of the Delhi-based Pure Drinks took another twist. Satwant Singh has obtained an interim-stay against his aunt, Harjit Kaur, restraining her from proclaiming as director of Pure Drinks).

The petition urged for a permanent injuction restraining Registrar of Companies (RoC) from accepting any document which purports Kaur, wife of late Charanjit Singh, as director of Pure Drinks.

The senior civil judge, Jalandhar, Mohinder Singh, in his interim stay order yesterday has restrained Kaur from proclaiming herself to be the director of Pure Drinks till May 29, 1997. The judge also issued her to show cause by the same date as to why the interim injunction should not be made absolute

The petition by Satwant Singh follows an application by his estranged brother, Ajit Singh to RoC stating that Harjit Kaur continued to be a director of Pure Drinks pursuant to court orders. Mr Ajit Singh's application filed on March 25, 1997 also stated that the earlier application filed with the RoC on November 11, 1995 be treated cancelled and withdrawn by the company.

The application filed in November stated that Kaur had ceased to hold the post of director consequent upon not attending three consecutive meetings of the board of directors of Pure Drinks.

Satwant Singh had also filed on April 1, 1997 an application with RoC stating that Kaur had vacated office of the director under Section 283 (1) (g) of the Companies Act, 1956, after absenting herself from three consecutive board meetings without obtaining leave.

Satwant Singh, in his petition, has aksed for an order declaring all actions made by Kaur after 31.12.1994, the day on which she ceased to be a member of the board, as unauthorised, void and of no effect.

Ajit Singh and Harjit Kaur had recently patched up their differences, which culminated in the former being nominated to the board of directors of hotel Le Meridien.

The family controls Le Meridien and Pure Drinks company.
